Enrichment
At Oasis academy Mount every child has the chance to access a variety of enriching experiences from Nursery through to Year 6. We build this into day-to-day lessons but also through organising special events, day trips, visitors and family events.
We also organise whole school enrichment days, or weeks in some cases, which are exciting ways to get our pupils interested in and inspired by the world around them. Building new skills we aim to help our children gain a better understanding of how to be in the wider world. Some examples of our most successful enrichment events are:
- Spanish Day
- St Georges Day
- Art week
- Fundraise for Mozambique
- Understanding life: Easter chicks and Butterflies
- World book day
- Safer internet day
- Mental health and well being weeks
In Foundation stage we love to host parent open afternoon, parents are encouraged to come and spend time with their child and take part in various activities. This may be linked a topic such as Elmer day when learning about wild animals or it could be a celebration such as Christmas or Easter.
We also ensure that children have at least one school trip during their time in nursery which will link to their learning. Alongside this we have visitors into school, such as the emergency services and musicians.
As a school we want our children to have high aspirations for their future, during the Summer term we have a whole school aspirations week in which we welcome different professionals into our academy to talk to the children about they could aspire to become.
We provide fantastic transition in order to prepare the children for Reception. Their new teachers spend time in nursery getting to know them in their own familiar environment. The children will then visit their new classroom numerous times to ensure that they feel confident about transitioning into the next phase of their educational journey.
